Plenty to say about the practicality, idealogical, and impact of the ban, but the idea kids will have nothing to do if not for social media is dumb and something only kids would argue. Even if it was true (which it evidently is not), it would be a reason for a ban not against it.
@mikrokosmically FF7 could have been remade as a single game (it was a single game). The FF7 games we've had in the way the remakes have been approached from a gameplay, graphical and story change perspective could not be a sinlgle game. Its not a bad thing.
The nostalgia of the casual experience for half remembered vibes of media is a powerful marketing tool (and also a huge force in the following discourse over that media and its remakes/adaptions, for better and worse).
The Midgar section is longer in the Remake, because kids playing FF7 for the first time in the 90's, often did not get too far. As such for a LOT of now older FF7 players, Midgar is insperable from their idea of what FF7 is. It's almost all they remember and identify FF7 with.
I played the first 90 minutes of the original Final Fantasy VII.
Wow, I had no idea how short the Midgar arc was in the OG.
I've already met Aerith, which is like Chapter 8 in Remake and that's almost the halfway point of that game.
