then a final nice note in the epilogue is they keep repeating the clip of lara walking among the daisies (which have repeatedly symbolised love and mari, and have flourished now). in her new human form she'll keep exploring and may falter, but she has a secure base in mari's love

i've been thinking on this line bc it's a bit ambiguous. mari's words are nice - she's responding to lara's feelings that she's poisoned by resentment and incapable of love. mari is telling her that the violent fate between humans and mermaids isn't set and love is what's natural

This here is exactly why Mari dies imo, as awesome and well-intentioned as Mari is, this is the last thing Lara wanted to hear from her. She wanted someone to tell her that she didn't have to be set on any clear path since birth.

If anyone missed it or her ears, Lara became a human, and it took time for Lisa to face and accept her sister changing. The parallels to accepting this "change" are so blunt I wonder if most would miss it.
