@hadleysglenn That's fair, but in this particular case iliabots are mad that others who do not pay enough attention to have known there was question of whether or not ilia was competing, are mad that he announced he was competing, as if he announced something obvious, when he didn't
He's been saying for months now he wasn't sure about competing, hadn't thought next season, hadn't thought about programs and a bunch of stuff about no guarantees, to the point it was far more likely he wasn't competing than was, only proof we had was carpet squares
Ilia's announcement being "next season is coming" like no shit I thought all rinks got burned down after world championships 2026 but turns out figure skating is still happening my mind is BLOWN
@peggedleg@HAPPILYSMYTHE You can think the lack of depth looks bad, but you can't say it actually affects quality of the jump, and you can't say other aspects of landing that are barely ever present means all of his jumps look bad.
@peggedleg@HAPPILYSMYTHE Even if you don't think they look good that doesn't divorce them from being text book perfect consistently, as again knee bend to a certain depth isn't in the rule book, that only exists for skaters to absorb the shock of landing, so every skater has a different depth to it.
@peggedleg@HAPPILYSMYTHE He may not be textbook perfect on every aspect, but no skater is, and his issues are much smaller than other skaters. Especially for the 4lz, 4f, and 4a. He is the best, as no skater can manage to have no issues consistently, and his issue is minor (knee bend is in the rulebook)
@peggedleg@HAPPILYSMYTHE They're not perfect because he messed up in one aspect of many, but there is a reason he was chosen for the jumps he was chosen for, that being the takeoff, as he is the only mens skater who doesn't mess up the edge, and has the highest landing rate.
@peggedleg@HAPPILYSMYTHE Also you are ignoring two thirds of the important part of jumps, take off and air position matter too. Ilia's takeoffs are textbook perfect on the three jumps he was named for on the list, and very close to perfect on the others. His wrap and axis are also consistently amazing
@peggedleg@HAPPILYSMYTHE Only valid issue there is the knew bend, the other things you mentioned do not occur consistently, only on jumps that are under rotated, watch anything he's done this season but Olympic individual fees, most jumps won't be like that
@peggedleg@HAPPILYSMYTHE Of course they're not, I've just genuinely never encountered a soul on fstwt that will say such bull as ilia's jumps look ugly and not be coming from a place of sheer contempt only achievable by fanyu's upset he has a 4A and Yuzu doesn't.
