The US Administration, European Union, the UN Secretary General, the African Union & the ANC have issued statements applauding "the positive steps taken by Eritrea & Ethiopia to achieve durable peace"; a development that has dividends to "stability of the Horn of Africa region"
#Eritrea will NOT compromise on its sovereignty. Its ports will NOT be open—even for commercial access—to an aggressor with expansionist ambitions. #Ethiopian regime is prisoner of its war agenda &is unable to extricate itself from the quagmire of its own making. The die is cast.
Eritrean farmer Rozina Mebrahtom has been named one of FAO’s 100 Women Heroes 2026—selected from over 600 women across 131 countries—for turning rugged, barren, saline land into fertile, productive farmland through a decade of relentless effort after her husband’s death. With her children’s help, she hauled soil, sand, and manure to build an integrated organic farm that boosts food security, conserves resources, and improves livelihoods in southern Eritrea. A powerful example of resilience and sustainable agriculture.

As part and parcel of their regular consultations, President Isaias Afwerki and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held extensive discussions - yesterday evening at State House - on further consolidation of bilateral ties between the two sisterly countries as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The two leaders underlined that as a great nation in the Horn of Africa, securing and guaranting Somalia's stability is pivotal for enduring regional peace and stability. In this respect, the two leaders discussed, in greater depth, salient agendas that promote achievement of the desired objective.
President Isaias elaborated on the imperative for the region to extricate itself from external interventions that often advance agendas of incubating & fomenting conflict and chaos in the region. In the event, it is critical for the region to address and resolve its own challenges.
President Isaias further reiterated that the Agreement reached at the Tripartite Summit between Eritrea, Somalia, and Egypt in Asmara, has no fundamental objectives other than the consolidatdion of existing and historical ties of cooperation; guaranteeing the peace and stability of Somalia; and more broadly, the promotion of the interests of the Horn of Africa and Red Sea regions.
In a subsequent statement to the Eritrean Press, President Hassan S. Mohamud expressed his apprecation for Eritrea's contributions in the ongoing efforts for bolstering Somalia's National Army as well as related sovereign institutions, which are vital for the stability of Somalia as well as the Horn of Africa region. President Hassan added that Somalia can glean useful benefits from Eritrea's vast experiences in the efforts to foster viable and robust partnerships.

PRESS STATEMENT
Eritrea: Sovereignty Is Never an “Old Narrative”
The Embassy of the State of Eritrea in Washington, D.C. has taken note of the Middle East Forum article, “Eritrea’s Old Red Sea Narrative Meets a New Middle East,” published on 21 September 2026, in response to the interview granted by Eritrea’s Foreign Minister, Osman Saleh, to Middle East Eye.
……..The most important correction concerns its persistent and misleading description of #Eritrea as having simply “seceded” from #Ethiopia. This formulation is not merely imprecise; it reverses the historical sequence and obscures the legal and political circumstances through which Eritrea became an independent state. Addressing this issue is critical not only to refute the specific claims made by the @meforum , but also to correct a broader, pervasive myth. Eritrea was never a part of the Ethiopian nation, and any narrative that treats Eritrea as a simple territory seceded from Ethiopia misrepresents its distinct history formation as an Italian colony and nation building processes, its forced federation and subsequent military occupation, and the legitimate political and protracted armed struggle of its people to restore its full #independence………
The article presents a selective and fundamentally distorted account of Eritrea’s history and consequently mischaracterizes the basis of Eritrea’s contemporary position on the Red Sea.

Potemkin Party's toxic/stale chorus is grotesquely on display again.
In the link below, the official mouthpiece of the regime (Fana Broadcasting Corporation -Arabic) tries to package, in its news item today, the PP's declared war of aggression in fallacious "historical and strategic terms".
1. In the first place, Ethiopia cannot "reclaim ports and maritime route" that it never owned except during its illicit presence in the bogus "Federation" and annexation periods. Annexation and forceful occupation do not confer historical/legal title to the occupying entity. International law 101.
2. The Eritrean people had paid precious sacrifices when their right to decolonization was denied in the 1940s to satisfy overriding geopolitical interests of major powers. As a result, they had to undergo through Africa's longest liberation struggle to achieve their inalienable national rights and human dignity which should not have been denied in the first place.
3. In the event, to deny and denigrate Eritrea's independence constitutes yet another transgression and political blasphemy of the highest order.
