This year, unlike previous years, we remember and celebrate you in heaven, ኣብሻይ, the woman who carried the weight of the world with grace, strength, and endless love. 

Nearly 90 years of life, and what a life you’ve built! Raising ten children alone after such a heartbreaking loss of ኣቨባ ገርላሰ was never easy, but you made it possible with your unwavering spirit. You turned hardship into resilience, nurtured dreams into reality, and raised a family of self-reliant, hardworking individuals who now serve their communities and even the world in profound ways.  

Your love has rippled through generations, blessing us all with wisdom, warmth, and the courage to stand tall. Blessed with over 20 grandchildren and some great-grandchildren, what a legacy of love you’ve created!  

Even now in heaven, you are surrounded by your husband, children, grandchild, and the angels, joyfully celebrating ማሪያም ጉምበት with our mother Saint Mary. Please continue to pray for us and bless us all.
መን ከማኺ ኣብሻይ!!
You are my hero, my guiding light, my greatest inspiration. 

I would also like to say Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers, especially Abby, who touched my life one way or the other.
