MEPs from across Europe have signed a letter in support of the people of the Garvaghy Road, calling for any attempt to force an Orange march through the community to be stopped.
Support for the people of the Garvaghy Road is growing across Ireland and around the world.
Go raibh maith agat to Sinn Féin MEP Kathleen Funchion for helping to secure more solidarity for the people of the Garvaghy Road on the international stage.
Danny Morrison tells a packed hall how after Kieran Nugent was sentenced. He was in H1, beaten, stripped naked but refused to wear the prison uniform. He was first to wear a blanket.
His parents couldn’t find out where he was & had to take a Habeas Corpus before they wear told
Andy Burnham should know better.
A border poll is mandated in the Good Friday Agreement. This is both a multi-party agreement, endorsed by referenda *and* an international treaty lodged at the UN.
United Ireland referendum is off the table, Burnham says
https://t.co/Zzvxp1vQBP
The Good Friday Agreement, which was brokered by Senate Majority Leader Mitchell and Pres @BillClinton, is clear on this topic. The UK Sec of State for NI shall call a border poll if a majority for unity appears likely. No UK PM can unilaterally declare it “off the table”.
The future of Ireland will be decided by the people of Ireland, not whoever occupies Downing Street.
Andy Burnham’s comments on a referendum on Irish unity were anti-democratic & completely at odds with the Good Friday Agreement.
Sinn Féin made that clear to him directly this evening.
The Good Friday Agreement guarantees people the right to choose their own future. No British Prime Minister gets to take that away on a whim.
There is an unstoppable momentum for change across this island & a growing belief that we can build something better together in a new & united Ireland.
This is not Andy Burnham's call to make. No British Prime Minister has any right to rule out a unity referendum.
The Good Friday Agreement is clear: the people of the island of Ireland alone must determine their own future.
“Is that a reasonable position for them to take?”
Interesting to ponder if the BBC’s @NewsDeclan would ask this question if a Unionist leader stated they’d not support mediation over a Republican parade through the Edgarstown estate in Portadown.
Media-framing is a real issue.

This week, TDs can back Sinn Féin’s bill compelling the Irish government to begin planning for Irish unity.
The potential to build a new & united Ireland that gives the next generation a better future is enormous.
Now is the time to grasp this historic opportunity.
The future of Ireland should be decided by the people of Ireland. Éire nua. Éire aontaithe.
We have a huge opportunity to reunite our country and shape our own future, here at home.
By seizing this opportunity, we can build a new Ireland that works for everyone.
The first step is getting Sinn Féin’s Irish Unity Bill passed in the Dáil on July 7th.
Ag tógáil todhchaí na hÉireann.
In what will be a historic first for the Antrim and Newtownabbey Council area, next week we will see the installation of a Sinn Féin Mayor - lifelong republican and former H-Block blanketman, Henry’s appointment embodies the future - one embracing equality, respect and inclusion.
Momentum is growing behind Janice Boylan's campaign.
@sinnfeinireland are the only party in this by-election who can challenge the government.
We are urging people in Dublin Central to come out in huge numbers this Friday and vote Janice Boylan no1.
Lets make this happen.
