September 9, 1968. Battleship New Jersey arrives at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, her crew in dress whites on deck as tugs guide her into the channel.

Ukraine Destroyed All Cruise Missiles and Several Ballistic Missiles

Yurii Ihnat, Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that during Russia’s overnight attack on September 1, Ukrainian air defence destroyed all cruise missiles launched by Russia.
He said that air defence also managed to intercept several ballistic missiles and “Banderols,” while the interception rate for drones remains quite high.

Yurii Ihnat added that to destroy more Russian targets, Ukraine needs additional air defence capabilities, including more missiles for Patriot systems.

Were the SS Panzer Divisions in Normandy "elite" units?

Yes and no.

They have a pretty good combat record.

But it depends on the specific division.

12th SS - the "Hitler Youth: division - threw themselves into reckless and costly counter-attacks against the Canadians and suffered severe losses for not much gain.

17th SS Panzergrenadier counter-attacked the 101st Airborne at Carentan. They mauled the paratroopers but didn't retake the city.

1st, 9th and 10th SS were probably the best of the bunch and put up fierce resistance around Caen.

But their aura of invincibility gets overstated sometimes.

They were certainly above-average in terms of experience and morale.

But many Allied units in Normandy were of equal quality. If you look at the American 30th Infantry or 2nd Armoured, Canadian 3rd Infantry, 1st Polish Armoured, British Guards Armour, you see a basically similar standard.
