If you ignore the sarcasm, this is spot on. Except for the hidden assumption that if a trans woman uses a women’s bathroom, it’s the cis women who are most likely to be at risk. In fact, trans ppl are often unsafe in women’s bathrooms because cis ppl attack them for being there.
The continued fascination some people have with my first job is bizarre. I worked at Heat magazine for 11 months after university (20 years ago!) and I quickly grew to hate it. My immediate boss there—now a columnist at a newspaper—would call me Paki as a "joke", repeatedly used racist slurs about others (e.g. calling TV personality June Sarpong, "C**n Sarpong", or referring to Alison Hammond on Big Brother as "that Black"), curated a pinboard of "funny" photos of disabled adults and children above their desk titled "Disabled Corner", and not one person there, including the publisher's HR department, gave a damn. "That's just [their] humour," I was told by one superior at the time. It was a toxic workplace that, even many years after I left, was still getting pulled into employment tribunal cases for racism.
Despite people's intentions, I'm not ashamed of that job. At 21-years-old, it was a blast covering red carpets every day and doing celebrity interviews. It just says a lot about certain sections of this industry that outlets would rather (repeatedly) put energy into trying to define someone by a job from two decades ago instead of focusing on the bigger, more newsworthy issues that have long plagued publishers and newsrooms such as that place.

The oppressive policing of the coronation is still being justified on the grounds that 3 people were arrested in the early hours for possession of rape alarms: "They might have been used to frighten the horses".
So who were these people and why were they carrying rape alarms? 🧵

Yesterday I got arrested whilst filming a @JustStop_Oil supporter holding a banner on the pavement near the coronation route. I'm a filmmaker and had my @BECTU press accreditation visible around my neck.
Police deemed this to be "conspiracy to commit a public nuisance".
Abolish the monarchy, not the right to protest
As we speak the whole core team of Republic is still being detained. We are not given a reason. They will probably be released when the whole monarchy pr-show is over.
