Periodic reminder: there is only one PoW blockchain called Bellscoin based on work of @BillyM2k . There are "vaulted" versions on ETH and SOL (see @vBells_on_SOL), but low liquidity rn, so recommend exchanges or @AlchemyPay . Other tokens on SOL, ETH, etc. are just imitators.
2013 was a Scrypt fork year.
A wave of memecoins launched on the same algorithm Litecoin had popularized for PoW two years earlier. Most disappeared from relevance. A few are zombie chains - technically producing blocks, but with little visible use, weak liquidity, and almost no cultural activity.
Three matter most to the Nintondo lineage in 2026:
β Litecoin: never positioned as a memecoin, but the Scrypt foundation this lineage built around
β Bellscoin: dormant from 2014 to 2023, then revived around Bellinals, BEL-20, wallets, and marketplace tooling
β Dogecoin: survived through AuxPoW + a community that refused to let it die
What separated the survivors from the casualties:
β Hashpower security
Litecoin built a real mining ecosystem. The chains that plugged into LTC/Scrypt merged mining (DOGE in 2014, BELLS in 2024) could tap into real miner infrastructure instead of fighting alone for solo hashrate. The ones that stayed on solo Scrypt mining mostly faded as miners moved on.
β A community that outlasted the price
Many 2013 forks were launched by people who left after the initial hype. The ones that survived had communities that stayed through the bear years, the silent years, the years when nobody was paying attention.
β Tooling that came back when the chain came back
Bellscoin's 2023 revival became more than a restart because wallets, marketplaces, and inscription support showed up to meet the community. Without that, the revival would have been an announcement, not an ecosystem.
The 2013 Scrypt wave was an early big test of what makes a memecoin survive a decade. Most failed. The ones that didn't tell you what mattered: real mining, real community, and infrastructure that shows up when called.
That's the lineage Nintondo is building on.
Did you know? π
$BELLS was launched by BillyM2K, the developer who later co-created Dogecoin.
Today, BELLS is a community-driven Proof-of-Work coin that can be merge-mined alongside $LTC and $DOGE, letting Scrypt miners earn extra rewards from the same hashpower.
