@alexrmoskowitz@OxUniPress It’s all about lighting and what things are next to it 💅🏼
But also I am so very pleased with how the editorial team took up the vision I had for the cover.
Such a dream to see my book Feeling Singular at @OxUniPress’s booth at the MLA—and the code AAFLYG6 will still work for a 30% discount!

Hi all -- the new J19 is up on the Johns Hopkins University Press website! It's full of treasures and pleasures, from a fabulous essay by @BrigField about birds, extinction, and mourning to a recovery of Black New Orleans actress Virginie Gireaudeau!

Just sitting here thinking about Mary Ann Willson (circa 1820s) and wondering how terrific her work will look on my lesbian-focused queer lit syllabus that is still very much a work in progress.
“A photograph gives shape to history; it allows us to fashion a landscape of feeling, . . . A photograph is a ladder that goes backward in time, a ladder we can push away whenever we want. With photographs, we can obscure the past as much as illuminate it.” ~Billy-Ray Belcourt

Reading Victor Heringer's THE LOVE OF SINGULAR MEN and had to share and re-gender these sentences: "Last time I saw [him], about two years ago, it looked like [he'd] slept in a bath of bleach. [He's] old in the damp, flaccid way of someone who loved being young a bit too much."
About six months ago my students told me to listen to Chappell Roan and I shirked the suggestion. But now…now I can’t stop listening. And I’m reminded that my students are so unbelievably wonderful and it’s summer and I need structure and I’m listening to the song again.
I just this very moment received a push notification that told me I’ve listened to Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” too much and that I need to give my phone a break.
