@RugbyReg A good chunk of their squad play full time in UK and France- which I'd say has a bit to do with it. Playing regularly in an actual pro comp has to be better than the semi pro (and ridiculously short) Super AU season.
@RugbyReg Thats very true re Wright. Sometimes she even came onto the wing. The attack still looks like they are trying to go too wide too early, and out of options after 5 phases. Set piece is frustratingly inconsistent as it has been for years. The Welsh didn't win a 6N game this year..
@RugbyReg@Hugh_96 It was tight until half time and then the Reds ran away with it. Passes stuck, looked more direct. Reds were also running more replacement movements than the Brums did so fatigue may have been an issue for them.
@Hugh_96 Lucky enough to have spent the week working with them. Only 4 players from Perth last year, many in second or third tourney and one debutant. The last match against USA was particularly gritty and showed a lot of fight and determination.
@NathJWilliamson@SVNSSeries Japan have been lucky enough to have had two Asian 7s series events in the last month to speed up their prep. A lot of new players in their squad, too.
@NrcSydney It's a very Japanese rugby thing for players outside the top squad to be given a number that they wear all season. Only when they are playing in the top team do they then follow the 1-23 format.
@BMcSport Possibly more the point that Lynagh and a bunch of others would only have arrived in UK late Tuesday or so after playing Monday in Japan. Smith the only one who played Monday in the 23.
