COMMANDING THE PULPIT: Preach Like You Mean It!

1. Own the Moment
• The pulpit is sacred ground—step up with purpose.
• You are not a guest performer—this is not a stage for entertainment.
• Preach like eternity depends on it—because it does.

2. Posture and Presence
• Stand like a messenger of God, not a lost tourist.
• Move with intention—don’t wander like the Israelites in the wilderness.
• Your stance should command attention, not pity.

3. Speaking With Conviction
• Don’t whisper the gospel—declare it.
• If your voice doesn’t believe it, why should the congregation?
• Silence is a tool—pause, let the weight of truth settle.

4. Hands That Speak
• Your hands are not in bondage—free them from your pockets.
• Use them to emphasize, not to distract—no excessive waving like you’re directing traffic.
• Never point aggressively—it turns preaching into prosecution.

5. The Message, Not the Messenger
• You are not the star, Christ is—stay humble.
• If people remember you more than the Word, you failed.
• The pulpit is not a TED Talk platform—preach the gospel, not your opinions.

6. Don’t force people to shout “amens” if you’ve not said a point. If points come, amens will automatically come.

7. The Sacred Clock
• The Holy Spirit works within time—respect it.
• Don’t turn 30 minutes into 3 hours of wandering thoughts.
• Land the plane before people start checking their watches and yawning.

8. The Exit Strategy
• Finish strong—don’t meander like a preacher afraid to end.
• Avoid the “just one more thing” syndrome.
• When you say “in conclusion,” make sure it’s actually the conclusion.

Preach with passion. Preach with precision. Preach with power.

May the Lord bless His messengers.
