@mcuban@BrentAWilliams2 You’re spot on. Probably 50% (might be upwards of 75%, I’m speculating) of my residency classmates took jobs that qualified for PSLF purely because they couldn’t afford not to. That’s tens of thousands of doctors who are making career decisions based on their debt, not best fit.
@AlmomaniMD Can’t even count how many times I’ve found something small in retro after a normal first look in forward view. Takes a lot for me not to retro on each screening colon.
@EzraTeitelbaum@ebtapper Where I work, anyone with a lactate above 4 needs empiric antibiotics or the hospitalists are dinged. Hospitalists are having to choose multiple times per day between giving unnecessary antibiotics vs lowering scores their bonuses are tied to.
@TomFornelli The real reason is the muscle man from UF. He shows up in Huskers gear for the Sweet Sixteen. Now he shows up in an Iowa jersey today. Iowa fans did not ask for this jinx, Tom!
@TPP_MD I’m about six months into being an attending and was woefully unprepared mentally for this concept. I know I’m just n=1, but I hope you know you’re not alone. Your future patients are better for it. Also kudos with being open about it; something I’ve also struggled with.
@JavyP13 None living. Also have to be lucky enough to have them care about athletics. Obv we have wealthy donors, but none in that stratosphere who can flick millions annually without blinking.
@TaylorTannebaum@ABLichtenstein People… this is not hard. Just because they made the finals and semester started like two weeks ago does not mean he needs to suddenly enroll a full schedule and take finals in May.
