While eggs have gone up over 45p/dozen on the supermarket shelf, just 10p/dozen has reached the farmer.

Bird Flu at the moment is an easy excuse for supermarkets to make more money, the cost of production is the real issue for shortages on shelves…

We have lost 227,350 FR birds, 24k Organic and 447k Colony since 1st October which is >743k this season. We lost 1.8m layers in the 2021 season. Some losses will be due to AI, but the main reason we have no egg is price. Producers are losing 29.61p/doz!
