@MichaelG_3D For beginners, start from where you’re most comfortable and slowly move outwards… if you know a 3D program, learn some Python and write a script to perform a task. If you’re more comfortable with code, try applying that knowledge to writing a simple shader or creating a tool UI.
@MichaelG_3D Basically, a technical artist is expected to be proficient in multiple disciplines, though not always with the skills of a specialist. More important is learning how seemingly disparate areas of development overlap and where knowledge in one area can solve an issue in another.
