Having a hybrid that can boost you up hill to help maintain speed would make the journey slightly faster and more fuel efficient?
With some loads that I move from take off to road speed can take up to a few km before I'm up there and that's where more fuel is used than cruising.

So there are some people who are trying to say we should be moving more freight by trains & using diesel trucks less, but it's just not as straight forward as that
There's so much that can't practically go on trains and the range of EV trucks is still too short & hrs to charge!

So why can't the truck manufacturers make hybrid trucks?
Here we have lots of hills and when we have a heavy load we use the engine brakes often and sometimes for prolonged periods just to hit a hill and slow down because of the weight.

Then it gets to the destination city and you have to do it all again at that end.
So it's many hours of extra labor and pay.
But you load that first truck drive 600km and unload in less than a day get a load back for the next day time & money well spent.

Scenario you pick up freight 1-2hrs to load and tie down drive 30-45 min back to where you can load a container to go on the train it takes 1-2hrs to unload truck and load containers then 30min to drive to the train terminal now it sits there for a day or two.

Trains also don't go to every main center here so it can only be done by trucks and on a single charge might be lucky to get there.
Then there's the fact that there's very little in the way of any truck stops let alone having chargers there.
