The Benedict-Allen Community Development Corporation (CDC) honors the dedicated service of outgoing Board members Emma McGraw Myers, Oveta Glover, Willis Langley III, and Henry Simon for their significant contributions to community development and neighborhood revitalization.
Myers served 18 years in multiple leadership roles, including planning major anniversary events and serving on key committees. Glover, Columbia NAACP President, joined the board in 2022 and served as Vice-Chair, while Simon and Langley each contributed four years of service. Together, their leadership helped advance housing revitalization, economic growth, and sustainable community transformation initiatives throughout the Benedict-Allen neighborhood.

Aaliyah was recently selected as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, a prestigious program that recognizes high-achieving students with great potential for graduate study. Ronald E. McNair, a South Carolina native who earned his Ph.D. in Physics, the McNair Scholars Program prepares students for doctoral studies and opens doors to incredible opportunities. As a McNair Scholar, Aaliyah is now nationally recognized and actively recruited by graduate programs, often receiving benefits such as application fee waivers, graduate assistantships, and fellowships. Aaliyah is also a member of the Benedict College Honors Program.

Alton Moseley, Cybersecurity Tech Coordinator at Benedict College, was recently recognized for his contributions to artificial intelligence and prosthetic innovation.
Mr. Moseley is honored to be recognized for his contributions through the acceptance of a Structured Defense Innovation Grant from the Defense Logistics Agency. Through this grant, he joins a worldwide effort to push the boundaries of human limitations and human-machine integration, and he is proud to contribute to the African American legacy of excellence in STEM, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
