My Hajia was complaining that her second phone’s screen got damaged and now she has to spend a lot of money to fix it; and fixing a Samsung screen is like buying another phone. I asked how much and she told me the amount.

In less than 10 seconds I sent the money to her and shared the receipt. Then she said: oh noo I was just ranting to you not that I wanted you to send me the money o.

Now I’ve asked her to return my money, she said the money don go be that. How? 😂

Of Lionel Messi's eight Ballon d'Ors win, I can tell you that three to four of his awards were not deserving

• 2010
• 2019
• 2021

I am indifferent of 2012 and 2023 wins to an extent

For Ronaldo
• 2013

I am also indifferent of his 2014 win to an extent

You can call it an agenda.... I will give you a breakdown

Someone made a comment on my post yesterday and said Lionel Messi has enjoyed corruption in the game pointing to the 2010 Ballon d'Or win

I said, both Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi have benefited from it and I pointed to the 2013 Ronaldo Ballon d'Or win but I included a caveat

'It started with Messi'

The FIFA World Cup was rated so high that it automatically determines who wins the FIFA Player of the Year Award and the Ballon d'Or

And in the year when there is no FIFA World Cup, the Champions League and other factors can come into play

It could sometimes swerve though but the Champions League became a major factor for the Ballon d'Or in the 2006/2007 season

The FIFA Player of the Year award started in 1991 and the first winner was Lother Mathaus

He was the captain of the German national team that had just won the 1990 FIFA World Cup and he won the Ballon d'Or too

In 1994, Romario of Brazil won the FIFA Award but didn't win the Ballon d'Or because it was meant for European players alone

So, Hristo Stoichov of Bulgaria won it. He had a great tournament.

• Bulgaria was fourth
• He was joint top scorer
• Third best player

After 1994, Ballon d'Or organizers turned it to a global award and in 1995, George Weah became the first non-European to win it

In 1998, Zinedine Zidane after winning the World Cup with France won the FIFA Award and Ballon d'Or

• Ronaldo Delima won both awards in 2002
• Fabio Cannavaro won both awards in 2006

Both players won the FIFA World Cup

Until 2010!!! When the unbelievable happened

Wesley Sneijder had a stunning year with Inter Milan and the Netherlands.

• Won a treble with Inter Milan
• 2010 FIFA World Cup Silver Ball
• 2010 FIFA World Cup Bronze Boot

But he wasn't even nominated

Lionel Messi had gone to the World Cup and had no impact but to the surprise of many, he won the FIFA Ballon d'Or

It was arguably the biggest robbery of any award the world has ever seen

Not even Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez were deemed fit to win it despite winning the FIFA World Cup in 2010

And that was when the corruption started

Cristiano Ronaldo won both awards despite crashing out of the group stage in 2014

The world cup was also neglected

In 2018, Modric won both awards because of he won the Golden Ball at the World Cup and Croatia finished as runners up

In 2019, Messi won the award ahead of Virgil Van Dijk who had won the Champions League and was the best player in the competition

In 2021, Messi won the Copa Del Rey and won the Ballon d'Or

In his defense, people said he won the Copa America, that is why he won the Ballon d'Or

Jorginho won the Champions League and the Euros, he came third

In 2023, Messi won the Ballon d'Or over Haaland.

I might not even have issues with that

You see the hypocrisy that is wrapped around Messi's career

I always give him credit for his incredible talent and achievements in the game but the favouritism that shielded his career is enormous

I always love your write up

Always precise and dope, and your knowledge is vast

However,, there are "four statements" that are fallacies in the media space

• Cristiano Ronaldo is arrogant but Lionel Messi is humble
• Ronaldo chase records, Messi doesn't
• Ronaldo cares about the rivalry, Messi doesn't
• Ronaldo is hard work, Messi is talent

All these four, they are lies!!

Everything you said about Messi is good but it kinda paints Ronaldo as a selfish and a bad person

First, I don't believe all these Portugal players don't regard Ronaldo

I have followed football to a stage where I don't follow media noise

There is competition amongst team mates. You played football and you know this

An average European footballer has this perceived arrogant personality

Ask Zinedine Zidane, ask Thierry Henry, ask Arjen Robben, ask Eden Hazard, ask some of the great European players, etc

Second, before I judge someone, I sometimes check where they are from which are foundations to a lot of things

In 2007, Ronaldo was asked who the best player in the history of football is

He said;

"Cristiano Ronaldo"

He was 21 years and he hasn't even achieved anything

In 2012, when Ronaldo was asked about the Ballon d'Or

He said;

"in Portugal, we don't act like we don't want something. We say it out the way we feel it. I want to win the Ballon d'Or"

You have heard how Jose Mourinho speaks......

I think Nani once said he is as good as Ronaldo but Ronaldo was way more consistent. I can't remember how he put it again

These are the Portuguese ways of speaking and actions. They don't hide it and it doesn't make them arrogant

The Joao Neves interview, I didn't condemn him because of two things;

First, he is young and might not have meant it the way the media portrayed it

Second, it's the Portuguese way of speaking

All these Ronaldo is chasing records, he reacts or doesn't talk to anyone if he doesn't score doesn't make him arrogant or selfish

That's a personality trait and a way of dealing with disappointment

Yes, maybe sometimes;

He overdoes it or he should have done better, but then, is there anyone 100% perfect in character

And it's not every game that he doesn't score that he won't talk to his teammates after the game

He has played over 1000 games

Dring the BBC/MSN era.

The MSN said they use to share glasses of wine together

Ronaldo said;

He keeps a professional friendship with the BBC. They don't share wine, they come to work and go to their houses

Does that make the BBC group worse than the MSN?

Messi doesn't chase records....

Was it not the same Messi that messaged Pep Guardiola when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was making the headlines ahead of him in Barcelona

And it led to Zlatan being marginalized from the team!

Was it not the same Messi that said he was hurt when Ronaldo tied his Ballon d'Or awards?

Was it not the same Messi that told Guillerm Ballague that he wants to outdo Cristiano

So, you still think he doesn't chase records?

Let me tell you today, Messi has eyes on 1000 career goals. If anyone tells you otherwise, it's a lie

The Argentina team

You see the Argentine team that became successful

It's just because we don't give him his flowers. Lionel Scaloni was the reason why that team succeeded

Before now, Argentina was individualistic but when Scaloni came, the first thing he did was break that individualism structure

That was what the birth of whatever you see in the Argentina national team today

Scaloni fostered unity, trust, friendliness, and loyalty among the Argentine players and that was the beginning of their greatness

Once again, great write up but sometimes what the media paints are far from the truth
