Twitter was an important space for me over 15+ years, but I won't contribute to X while it allows disinformation to be spread unchecked, including the support given to racists and far right extremists by the owner of this platform.
‘1 in 5 charities (19%) say their board has low digital skills, with little digital interest, understanding or support. Only 28% of charity respondents say they have a board with good or excellent digital skills, down from 32% last year.’ https://t.co/seWB7xCrFo

Had a rare window of spare time, so I walked slowly from Westminster back to Euston in the sunshine this afternoon. The absolute best way to see London instead of the usual rush around on public transport
I was able to back this book on Unbound in 2022, so I’m proud to have my name listed in the small print of supporters at the back. We need more of this type of project, with first hand stories and participation that challenges thinking about systems of support in our society
I’ve just finished this book which hits really hard. It’s a collection of curated stories and first hand accounts of the real UK care system https://t.co/B9Q7o9PvbW
That’s classic tech thinking and solutions for policy problems - when what’s really needed is user centred policy work. Calling it customer engagement just feels horrible in this context as well 2/2
Context for that last RT… This is a clear political/policy choice - “a carer who earned £1 more than the £151 threshold for 52 weeks would typically have to pay back £4,258.80, rather than £52” https://t.co/6dmnduqX62
Questions about DWP priorities as well: “[We’re] progressing an enhanced notification strategy as part of our ongoing commitment to customer engagement, which will help ensure customers fulfil their obligations to inform DWP when changes in their circumstances have occurred” 1/2
End the Carers Allowance cliff-edge! Many reporting the scandal that those caring 35+hrs/wk oft for vulnerable loved ones must repay £1,000s just for slipping a quid or two over the max earnings threshold (currently £151/wk).
Ending that clawback's important. Yet the cliff-edge should end too. Almost all other benefits work by taper - ie earn over the limit and the benefit doesn't immediately stop, it gradually reduces. With carers allowance, a penny over and you get nowt. This is simply stupid and should be stopped.
Carers are a backbone of the UK, saving the state & NHS billions. The £82/wk allowance is pitifully low, at the very least we should end the cliff-hanger so work pays.
