It’s obviously a complicated issue. Some see unfettered access to the internet as the future. However. The point is the damage that it has on young, immature minds, is obvious, so we need to apply laws the same way we understand we need to limit access to alcohol, smoking or driving etc. Personally I’d make owning a smart phone under 16 illegal. So kids can have phones for convenience & safety but not unlimited uncontrolled internet access. It’s the addiction caused by continuous access with unethical algorithms set to deliberately do this that’s wrong. The truth is (& we must deal in truth & evidence) kids have better physical, but especially mental health without smart phones. If we know this, and we do, we must do something. But it must be across all social media if that’s the way we go. No government can pick & choose who ‘they’ see fit to ban!

I must confess to being a bit emotional this morning at the news of a knighthood for Kevin Sinfield.

I’ve always called him ‘Sir Kev’ and it’s hard to think of a man more deserving. He showed us all what it is to be a friend. What it means to step up when people need you and he did it all for his mate ❤️

After he carried Rob across the line in the Leeds marathon someone sent me this poem anonymously and I kept it on my phone. They called it ‘Arise Sir Kev’…

When shadows gathered, and hearts would break
Kev knew it was time to take…
One step, another, through wind and rain,
Carrying hope, despite the pain.

He never stopped, mile after mile,
Driven by loyalty, strength… a smile.
For Rob, his friend, he aim was true

Sky News host Trevor Phillips aged 72 has announced he is stepping down from the channel to take up a new role in the United States.

The 72 year old has presented the flagship Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips show since 2021.

Phillips is leaving to join CBS News as its senior global affairs correspondent in a move announced on June 12 2026.

He will depart Sky News this summer after more than five years presenting the Sunday morning politics programme.

The veteran broadcaster made the unexpected announcement that he is heading to America for the new CBS role.

Sky News will be looking for a replacement for the popular host who has been a regular fixture on the channel since joining in 2021.

This will be a huge loss as Trevor was one of the few people that held British politicians to account..
