Mr. Ugly is OUT NOW!!!

A malicious entity is possessing whomever it pleases and forcing them to kill in the most sadistic ways imaginable. Gertie will stop at nothing to end its trail of terror, but evil has plans of its own, and it is growing stronger…
That's it for me, folks. The neo-fascists and sycophants can have this platform. I'll be making a Mastodon account this week. Hope to see some of you over there. I'll keep this account up for the profile links, but beyond that, I choose not to participate in Musk's sideshow.
"Twitter is dying"
Twitter:
I'M ANGRY
I'M ANGRY THAT YOU'RE ANGRY
I'M SPREADING MISINFORMATION FOR FUN
HERE'S MY OPINION DISGUISED AS INFORMED COMMENTARY
HERE ARE SOME LIES I MADE
HERE'S A MEME
BOTS BOTS BOTS
I'M LEAVING JUST KIDDING HI HI HI
Idk. Seems the same to me.
@MickWest I don't believe this is a thing, but to play devil's advocate, I'd say it doesn't promote scientific exploration of the hypothesis--it puts it solidly in the realm of "fantasy."
So when it's brought up in a scientific setting, you can mockingly whistle the X-Files tune.
I removed Twitter and FB from my phone. I still have them on my home PC, where I can make the conscious choice to engage--or not. Not having these particular distractions in my pocket has been incredibly liberating.
10/10 would recommend.
@StorySorcery 100000% this. Authors are not brands. Our books should be our platforms. Our "followers" should be our readers. We are allowed to have quirks, hobbies, opinions, etc., independent of our published work.
I will die on this hill, likely in obscurity, but so be it.
@cbouzy Huh? Isn't the exact opposite more likely? If the media said Dems had this in hand, would Dems still have turned out to vote in the same numbers?
Look at 2016. There's your answer.
All of which is to say, this seems a good time to cut back on my presence here.
I'm not deleting my account, but I'll be on this thing very infrequently, stopping by now and then to see how the party full of strangers is doing, and maybe to drop some good news when I have it.
For those mourning the Twitter they knew, I just want you to know that my experience on this platform has been consistently like walking into a party full of strangers who, when I try to approach, give me the stink-eye and silence. I don't think I'm alone there. 🧵
And that's fine. I probably didn't take the right approach or find the right community or whatever. That's okay. It's no great loss. And if you've loved this platform, that's great. I'm happy for you. But I think it's also a great way for a lot of people to feel lonely as hell.
Every explanation of Mastodon is like:
It's very simple! The servers function like Gooblesmacks, which are kinda like Shmoopies! So if you know how to Schmoopy, then you will be fine!
Just, whatever you do, never gorble your doodads, or you will DIE.
I mean ffs, free speech is NOT a partisan issue, but the term "free speech" has been co-opted and weaponized by extremists to mean "I can be a bigot without consequences."
That's NOT free speech. Musk and his cronies either know this and don't care, or they ARE extremists.
Musk easily could have been a unifier. Someone who says, Look, I know people are worried, but we are going to do this right, and it'll be better in the long run. Let's work together.
Instead, like many rich & powerful ppl today, he chose division, scapegoating, and "othering."
