In the middle is alternaria being inhibited by baccilus lipopeptides. Around the outside is trichoderma growing having a party because lipopeptides don't bother it. #science#fungi#microbiology#microbes#art
"Increasing the time needed to obtain a PhD degree from three years to four or five, he says, could also help to reduce the number of students in PhD programmes while boosting their level of training." What a terrible idea π€¦ https://t.co/8hU9HXMJmr
Can't beat a good old fashioned play with the microscope. You're looking at the germinated spore of a Cladosporium sp. of #fungi#FungiFriday#science#microbiology
@soil_institute Great work bringing soil health into focus and providing a framework for better soil measurements! Really surprised though that none of the biological measurements listed as tier one indicators. Soil microbiology is arguably the most important driver of soil health.
Happy #FungiFriday There is huge potential for molecular biology based diagnostics to be applied in agriculture. I predict these kinds of tests will become commonplace in agriculture in the next few years across all kinds of crops.

Another #FungiFriday another interesting #fungi isolated. This one is a Epicoccum sp. I like it because it secretes a pretty fluorescent red into the agar. The chemical actually has been commercialised for it's unique properties that make it useful as a protein dye.
For this #Fungifriday I am reminding everyone to ethanol there gloves. I created this Frankenstein #fungi because I didn't π @ContamClub. It looks pretty cool though so I'm not mad. In fact it almost looks like an actual mushroom π growing out of a log. #science#microbiology
We had a lot of lab tours this week so I pulled our most visually appealing fungi from our collection and was pleasantly reminded how beautiful they can be. #fungi#fungifriday#science#microbiology
β¨β¨This bacteria sparklesβ¨β¨!? If anyone wants to retweet to help me figure out what or why!? That would be amazing or offer your own suggestions below. Isolated from the base of a macadamia tree that had bacterial canker disease.
