@alitescape Unfortunately no, however the 4-book series is basically the length of a single standard epic fantasy book, and the Claw is a significant artefact in all of them!
I've always found it interesting and useful to see other authors talk about their sales figures, so I put together a financial summary of my 2023 as an indie author. Lots of info in the full post linked below, but I'll share some of the graphs here. #indieauthors#indiebooks
@shaunaLwrites I remember getting a bit tired by the third act when I saw it in the theatre. But yeah, watched it again recently and was hooked all the way through, cannot wait for the next part!
@JoshSEdwards Copyright issues are short-term. We already have tools like Adobe Firefly trained on private sets, and if there's enough fuss made then 100% provably ethical models (including LLMs) are inevitable. Then everyone will pivot to the job-loss argument.
@foozzzball Ah yeah good point - I see those "new month, no sales" posts get some decent traction as well. I don't think I've ever seen an in-character tweet - is that a thing?!
I reached a writing milestone today - one million pages of my novels read in Kindle Unlimited.
For comparison, a million pages is about 1700 full books, and it represents earnings of about $4500.
This isn't that big a deal, and it's just a number, but it's pretty neat for me.
@GCDaveDobson@JoeBerne1 There are lots of initiatives like this! Adobe Firefly is trained only on their stock databases, although I'm not sure about royalties. And you could easily create a model trained only on classical artists in the public domain. Theft is not fundamental to genAI
@St_EdPool Yeah I think the question is specifically about how ratings affect the algorithm. Am I more likely to be recommended a book with two 4-star reviews, or a book with one 5-star review? What gets surfaced in the search results?
