After some bureaucratic procedure, I had my corrections approved today on the thesis. Seems appropriate to discuss the core elements of my thesis: ‘Conceptualising Ideological Transition: Centre-Right Neoliberalisation in the UK and post-war West Germany’ https://t.co/LBLFCcGMa8
Very pleased to have passed my viva today with minor corrections! Thanks especially to my examiners, Ben Jackson and Dean Blackburn and my supervisors, Mat Humphrey and Andrew Denham. @NottsPolitics
@GaryLoveHistory@CBHJournal Cheers. I imagine your work on Conservative publications and party culture had some impact on the way I thought about the topic and sources.
My new article is out in @CBHJournal and explores the engagements between the infamous eugenicist Richard Lynn and the Conservative Party in the 1960s and 1970s and what they tell us about the New Right ideological coalition.

My first article 'Britain’s Whiz Kids' is finally out in British Politics. I’d love to tell you more about what you can find in the article. In brief: managerialism was introduced to Britain in the 1960s & 70s through the CPRS and PAR, not the 1980s.

The hubris of tweeting about a fairly 'quick and straightforward' process with a journal only to be stuck waiting 7+ weeks for proofs (was initially given a 3 week estimate). n.b. The editor has been in touch.
I'm really pleased that my first article should be coming out fairly soon (accepted and off for proofs a fortnight ago). I thought I'd share the timeline of the article. Even though the reviews process was reasonably quick & straightforward, the article has been on a longer road.
@lionel_trolling@stcolumbia in his articulation of the movement. That there isn't such an adoption of institutional form may be related to how paramilitarism has been alongside and enmeshed in the movement but in a different way than what might be considered a traditional fascism.
@lionel_trolling@stcolumbia One idea that arose reading this was that I have been using Mann as my foundation in thinking about fascism - especially on the co-identity of the nation, state, party and movement. While Trump has taken over the Republican apparatus, he doesn't put the party at a central place
