This is a perfect example of blatant racism within our education and medical system that I never stopped to think about. Our system is designed to accept that as reality rather than address the oppression that is causing these problems. Just one example of too many.

When learning about health problems like hypertension and kidney disease, profs always listed being black as a risk factor. This risk factor has nothing to do with genetics, but rather the racism that has created a system of oppression and lack of support for minorities.
