Without Congressional action, Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua says a "super league" is inevitable.
"You’re going to only have a small number of universities who can invest to field a nationally competitive football team."
I’ve thought this would be the ultimate outcome if nothing is done. We’ve already seen shades of it in the past with many D1 baseball programs that were cut and converted to a club sport.
Nick Saban: "Now you have schools that have close to $40M rosters [in football]. If we continue to do that were going to lose olympic sports, were gonna lose non revenue sports. We're gonna have football and basketball succeed and were going to have club sports for everything else with no scholarships."
@the_virtualSC Football coach’s actively detain speed. Yet team speed is a huge compenent of success. But they are still using tactics from the 80’s when I played. Mind numbing.
I am now seeing the flood of “I have to decided to enter the portal” posts……and I’m looking at their performances and I’m wondering where do you think your going to go?!!!! Money basically gone and roster spots limited. No way the system sucks up all these kids…..
@AdamArchuleta I run into this issue in the summer with kids wanting train with me for Nike or NB nationals but have mandatory football workouts. I’ve told parents it’s unrealistic to do both unless there is real communication between the two sides. Overtraining is a huge issue.

I’ve never put more than a 10% allocation outside the U.S. in rare instances where Europe and Asia outperform, it doesn’t last because of the U.S. structural advantages.
The Economist on the U.S. economy’s consistent growth outperformance relative to other advanced countries:
“America’s outperformance began decades ago, but in the 2020s it has become vast. And it is likely to last. The latest IMF forecasts show American growth besting the rest all the way to 2030 and beyond….
Many of America’s advantages are hard to emulate. The country’s continental scale, single language, natural-resource wealth and the fiscal space that comes from issuing the world’s safe asset give it a unique economic advantage over Europe…
But America also shows just how much other rich countries are failing to live up to their economic potential.”

Wall Street was the ultimate squid game up until recently (still,is but not nearly as harsh as before) You were ranked daily by your P&L. If you could not produce, you were fired.
NEW: A recently laid-off Meta employee accuses the company of operating like “Squid Game,” with workers pitted against each other in a toxic stack-ranking culture.
@fitsoccerqueen Unless they had a parent that was a college athlete, most are woefully unprepared for the level of commitment, passion and toughness required to be successful at the college level.
