(Now I have to leave Twitter again because I can already feel it already making me insane after two tweets but I don't really know what to say to anyone who doesn't think Helen Dewitt is both extremely funny and totally relatable. )
A writer's ONLY purpose is to POST on social media, make PROMOTIONAL VIDEOS, do as marketing TELLS them, kindly BLURB other writers, and be A PROFESSIONAL. Dewitt needs to GET REAL, GROW UP, and DO HER JOB!! And I am NOT going to CRY about it either!!!!!!!!
I have respect for Dewitt’s work but for $175,000, I would figure out a way to access WiFi. The video requirement is also minimal. Now if she has a disability, that’s on wc to accommodate her. But if not, I’m not going to shed tears for a grown woman who made her decision.
A true thing that happened to me when I was a receptionist at an environmental nonprofit circa 2005-2006 is that I got in trouble for repeatedly hanging up on Bobby Kennedy, Jr. (Bc my main job was to hang up on crazy people and it really seemed like he was one.)
I won’t go so far to say this is good (or kind to the subject) but it does feel sneaky to call this a “men’s magazine profile” without mentioning that the writer is Lisa Taddeo
The most annoying people in the world love to say there is no objective difference between good art and bad art
So I made a list of 15
Good Art v/s Bad Art: The Masterlist of 15 Differences👇🏻
I believe in full transparency for employment in the arts, so in the interest of disclosure I was advanced 200k for my recently announced three-book deal. This will be split into four payments, the last of which is contingent on earning out, over a 3-5 year period.
Once again I find that I'm among the five or six people on a packed plane who care to look out the window at views unavailable to humankind for almost all of our history on earth
