🚨 Two visibly Jewish men were stabbed outside a synagogue in London’s Golders Green neighborhood.

I stand with our allies in the US and Israel as they take on the threat of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its vile regime. The same regime that carries out attacks on the UK and on our citizens, that seeks to build nuclear weapons that would threaten our country and that brutally repressed pro-democracy protests only months ago and murdered thousands of its own people.
Under my leadership, the Conservative Party will always put our national security first and work with our allies to make the world a safer place.
@BBCNews There was no "Palestine" during WW2. There was the British Mandate of Palestine. The suggestion of an actual Palestinian State existing during WW2 is a disingenuous historical fiction and is designed to imply that Israel usurped a pre-existing country. #bbc
If you oppose something you don’t understand purely because Israel supports it, that is not principle—it is antisemitism. Plain and simple. That tells us everything about you.
This is Sir Matthew Rycroft.
He was Permanent Secretary at the Home Office when Alla Abd El-Fattah was awarded British Citizenship.
In 2024 when the Conservative Home Secretary, James Cleverly proposed providing funding to the Community Security Trust to assist the Jewish community in protecting schools, synagogues etc following the growth in post Oct 7 antisemitism, Rycroft argued it was bad value for money and should not proceed. He also said that if the Minister did proceed, a proportionate amount (which would have been much more) should be given to protect mosques.
In 2016, Rycroft was the UK's Permanent Secretary to the UN. During his tenure, the UK surprisingly voted against Israel at the Security Council on Resolution 2334. Both Theresa May (PM) and Boris Johnson (Foreign Sec) were blindsided by this and had no knowledge that this vote had taken place until afterwards. They tried to distance the UK from it.
Rycroft resigned from the Home Office in February
this year.
@DXW_KC@attorneygeneral What an awful and disingenuous response - the lack of respect reflects this government's disastrous and haphazard policy on Israel
This is not a response from @attorneygeneral except in the most formalistic sense. It does not address, let alone engage with, any of our points.
You don’t uphold respect for international law by dodging questions, refusing to engage or taking refuge in platitudes.
@AlboMP You're making things worse. This self-deluded posturing is prolonging the conflict by emboldening Hamas. Recognition is not reality. That will only come in a negotiated two state solution which the Palestinians have rejected time and time again.
As a Dual British-Israeli citizen who survived 471 days in Hamas captivity, I am deeply saddened by your decision @Keir_Starmer to recognise Palestinian statehood. This move does not advance peace—it risks rewarding terror. It sends a dangerous message: that violence earns legitimacy.
By legitimising a state entity while Hamas still controls Gaza and continues its campaign of terror, you are not promoting a solution; you are prolonging the conflict. Recognition under these conditions emboldens extremists and undermines any hope for genuine peace.
Shame on you.
