Years of strike action & campaigning against pension cuts have pushed employers to support full benefit restoration & compensate us for what we’ve lost since April 2022. All #USS members owe @UCU members a huge debt of gratitude for the sacrifices we’ve made to get to this point.
May I politely suggest to non-UCU members who benefit from the pending USS changes, to the tune of tens of £000s (and to those members who for whatever reason did not strike), please consider supporting those who took action and lost salary for your gain: https://t.co/anSy19eKJE
Event alert!🚨
This was originally planned as a “teach out”, but in light of the strikes being called off we have decided to change the event slightly to a solidarity social!
Remember: you have a legal right to join a union and to take part in IA. If a manager threatens the future of your career, team, or programme because of your TU activity, they are engaging in trade union victimisation and BREAKING THE LAW. Know your rights https://t.co/t2oDpFT4Ut
Day 6: We do not believe even the most hardline of uni SMTs are united. We know that more far-sighted members see the needless damage that non-negotiation is doing to student experience, recruitment, NUS scores, and morale. Use your influence and leadership; save the day.
Across the country tonight, uni senior management teams show off their 4* negotiation techniques by offering unions the following irresistible offer in exchange for calling off our devastating strike action:
Hi @BBCScotlandNews, nice of you to cover the strikes, but it seems to have escaped your notice that @UniteScotland are also out on strike at the exact same picket that you took your photos on this morning, and have been since Wednesday. #FairPayInHE
University of Sheffield staff members are back on strike today, for two weeks. Apparently, our VC finds it more important to maintain the "ideological position" of not accepting partial performance than to prevent disruption to students or listening to his own staff members.
Word of the day is another outing for ‘mumpsimus’ (16th century): one who sticks rigidly to their position, despite clear evidence that they shouldn’t.
Sunday Inspo: While our pay situation remains dire, on Friday we were notified of a USS pension consultation that will see benefits wrongly removed in 2022 fully restored in April 2024. This only happened because UCU members took action. Striking works. Support your union ✊
📢 We call on Iranian authorities to reveal the location of imprisoned teacher unionist #JafarEbrahimi, ensure that he receives urgent medical care, and grant him an unconditional release!

Day 5: Students have now lost 1 of the most important teaching weeks of the year. And for what? Mgmt intransigence? A refusal to even consider the return of wages that workers have already earned? Time to talk; we can still give students the experience they deserve next week!
Day 4 of our strike. During the summer MAB, mgmt said it was a national dispute about which they could do nothing, and refused to call for UCEA negotiations. The current dispute is local, and could solved entirely by @StirUni alone. Will we hear from them today?
