MILEI WANTS A US-STYLE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN IN ARGENTINA

President Javier Milei announced he will send a bill to Congress to create an automatic mechanism that stops government spending the moment the approved budget runs out.

In practice, it works like this: once the money authorized by law is finished, the executive branch cannot keep spending. Non-essential parts of the state would shut down until Congress passes a new budget or extension.

❌ No more creative accounting
❌ No more automatic expansions
❌ No more kicking the deficit down the road.

This is the same tool used in the United States when politicians fail to agree on funding. Milei’s version is designed specifically to lock in fiscal discipline and prevent the political class from expanding spending beyond what was already voted.

It is another piece of the broader reform package that also includes changes to the Central Bank and stricter fiscal rules. The objective is simple: make it impossible for the state to keep growing at the expense of the people who actually produce wealth.

The old Argentina model of permanent deficits, money printing, and ever-larger government is what destroyed the currency and living standards for decades. Rules that force politicians to live within real limits are exactly the kind of structural change the country needs.

The billions in EU funding will finally arrive. We promised, and we delivered.

Hungary’s EU Recovery and Resilience Plan has just received the unanimous approval of EU finance ministers. This removes the final obstacle to unlocking up to €10 billion in EU funds.

Many did not believe it could be done. Many thought it was impossible. Fidesz tried to obstruct it, while we worked tirelessly for three months and delivered.

The billions in EU funding are finally on their way and will go exactly where they belong: to the Hungarian people, by directly supporting transportation infrastructure, energy security, healthcare, water management, and local businesses.
