In The Office, this opening scene was accidental.

The exercise ball wasn’t meant to pop.

Jim was supposed to lightly stick scissors into Dwight’s exercise ball.

The air would slowly leak out. Dwight would gradually sink to the floor.

Prop master bought 14 exercise balls. They rehearsed 13 perfect takes. Everyone was ready to move on.

Then director Paul Feig said:
