Bosses love to bargain behind closed doors, but there was no requirement for our reps to follow along. This TA undermines our union’s democratic principles and the power that flows from them. 10/11
The UC concealed this transaction because they didn’t want workers to know they responded to our demands. But workers aren’t stupid: in effect, we have won divestment.
On August 19th and 20th, the UC administration ratcheted up their summer campaign of intimidation and strikebreaking by sending written warning letters straight from the University Office of the President to hundreds of workers at UCSC.
BREAKING: Directly after the Superior Court’s decision to grant a temporary restraining order against our strike, workers at UCSC entered an extensive process of deliberation. This included emergency dept meetings, two campus-wide meetings, and an exhaustive inquiry. Results 🧵
