Alexandra wandered down another corridor and emerged into a circular chamber, which pulsed in flickering torchlight. Its high-domed ceiling and spacious size allowed for several dozen people. Archaic symbols graffitied its walls, and a pentagram sullied the floor. In the middle stood a wood pillory; the type once used to punish criminals. Next to it rested a table holding two gold chalices, lit black candles, and a riding crop. From the deeper realms of the labyrinth flowed the hauntingly beautiful notes of a violinist. She trembled. Her aunt had taught her about the rituals of demonic matrimony. The initial mating served not for pleasure or breeding, but to display servitude. Forefront in these teachings outlined an absolute need for the maiden to remain still throughout intercourse. Only the devout and prepared could accomplish this, hence the use of bondage mechanisms.
