Last month, Jacklyn went to the Inuit community Kugluktuk in Nunavut to help implement the Kitikmeot Biting Insect Monitoring Program (K-BIMP) with Dani Nowosad. Jacklyn ran an event with the Hamlet of Kugluktuk summer camp to make science more accessible for Inuit Youth.
👩🏾🔬It's Meet & Greet Monday! Say hello to Ijeoma Nwafor, an undergrad research assistant in our Senior Research Associate's lab here at the CEM 👋 Her current project? Studying resource-limited competition in freshwater phytoplankton😎

This week, the Bernhardt Lab had the opportunity to visit the Canadian Phycology Collection Centre at @UWaterloo. Thank you Heather, for showing us around and delivering our first purchased stock of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. 15mL full of potential, hopes and dreams!
🌲 In the dynamic landscape of ecology and evolution, embracing open science is no longer just an option, it's a necessity 💻 Learn more about the open-source teaching tutorials being developed to help undergrads thrive!

We've just finished our first week back in the lab! We are excited to see returning lab members Neha, Jacklyn, Sveta and Ijeoma, and welcome Jessica and Victoria to our lab! We are excited for a fun summer of research and the projects to come!
Heading home from the Chesapeake Bay @SmithsonianEnv and my first @LenfestOcean collaborative biodiversity modeling workshop led by superstar postdoc Kelsi Furman, @JEmmettDuffy (& others). Feeling inspired by how generously people shared perspectives - with honesty & curiosity.
Our Manager, Dr. Bernhardt, hails from the west coast of Canada although she spent time at Stanford and Yale before landing with us at #UofG. She teaches, codes, supervises, and researches; and in 2022, she received the Early Career Award from the CSEE 🏆#WomeninSTEM#KillingIt

This week, the undergraduate thesis students presented their projects in the thesis course poster showcase! They did an amazing job and it was great to hear all about their exciting research plans!
I too am recruiting graduate students, postdocs, and a lab technician for my group at UChicago, starting fall 2024! We will be doing exciting work to uncover the limits of plant adaptation in changing environments.
Two postdocs joined the #CEM team! @AmandaCicchino is addressing how temperature variation can mediate or exacerbate organismal vulnerability to warming temperatures. Kayla focuses on how different types of species interactions interface to affect ecological systems across scales
✨To celebrate #NPAW2023#PostdocAppreciationWeek ✨we are reading a very cool new paper by postdoc @AmandaCicchino (& co-authors @CGhalambor @fieldgenomics) on the relationship between CTmax and heat-related mortality in 🐸
Check it out (& see 🧵below) https://t.co/B7mhuclaup
Job alert - please share!
We are hiring a postdoc in Predictive Ecology in Climate and Plant Disease to work with us! Join a team w/ @BernhardtLab, @MariaGCorradini & Helen Booker at the @uofg
