AIRPORT REVIEW
Grand Rapids, MI (GRR)
A beautiful, clean airport. Security takes about 10 minutes and then once you’re through, it basically feels like one big lounge.
Ample seating, quiet, peaceful.

A census powwow? “Count” me in! A fascinating documentary podcast of one woman’s efforts to enumerate her tribal nation for the 2020 federal census. https://t.co/28TDPxPvOB #census#NativeAmericans#genealogy
So in two days it will be the 80th anniversary of D-Day. 80 years ago today Captain James Stagg gave the forecast that there would be enough of a break in the weather that June 6th would be good enough for a successful operation.

Since beginning #genealogy research, I’ve often thought it and wine were right next to one another in the universal spectrum of things, no?…DNA analysis, family trees, some common vocabulary. _Wine Grapes_ is, essentially, a genealogy of grapes.
Lapeer @LdLlibrary is receiving an historic newspapers digitization grant! My special trips to Lapeer & Lansing for day-long newspaper research binges on microfilm are numbered! (‘Tis bittersweet but exciting, nonetheless.)

I spent an hour scouring the Pottery Barn Outlet for the 70% off @GaylordArchival boxes. Two salespeople later, I learned “Gaylord Boxes” is PB code for bedding clearance bins 🤦🏼♀️. Figure my #genealogy friends will understand.
One week from today!
Friday, August 18 marks 178 years since the first German settlers founded Frankenmuth. Join the St. Lorenz Heritage Committee for this fantastic celebration! Stop by our own museum at 613 S. Main St. for free admission as well!!
I WON this bike race in a thrilling contest back in the 80s. It was on the high school’s track. To everyone’s amazement, pedaling my banana seat two-wheeler, I overtook the lead on her ten-speed in the last quarter of the race. #Winning#Frankenmuth
Artifact(s) of the week! Did you know before Volkslaufe ever began in Frankenmuth, that the Jaycees hosted a children's bike race? These photos show children participating in the 1962 (Photo #1) and 1963 (Photo #2) Jaycee bike races. Does anyone have memories of competing??
