[STATEMENT] I have requested National Treasury’s guidance on an independent investigation into the PMTE’s roughly R70 million lease agreement for a building without a tenant at 146 Lunnon Road in Pretoria.

The preliminary findings conclude that a lease had been secured for the department of public enterprises that was already set to be closed down.

I have rejected recommendations that fail to hold officials accountable.

Every person involved must be identified and held to account.
