I'm trying to find a copy of 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Amongst Theives' that has @sueperkins 's wonderful #AudioDescription track (wot I wrote). So far all the versions I've bought have had the US narration. Any recommendations?
@adamfare1996 @Mutant16928 @siylkat The mistake is to assume that because you can’t focus on your breath (or another anchor) that you’re doing it wrong. You’re not. Meditation is about gently, kindly, *training* the attention.
@adamfare1996 @Mutant16928 @siylkat I have #ADHD and if it were about *keeping* focus on my breath, Id be terrible at it. It’s about (occasionally) noticing that my mind isn’t paying attention to my anchor (a rock) and non-judgementally bringing it back.
@adamfare1996 @Mutant16928 @siylkat There’s no such thing as ‘getting it right’ - just the repetition of noticing that your attention has wandered, and gently bringing it back to the anchor. If you only manage that twice in 20 mins, you’re still meditating, still training the bits on the brain that deal with focus
@Donagh_Sarah You need to allow time to go back over the completed script a couple of times to review for accuracy, clarity, and whether there’s a better, more articulate way of describing something, perhaps in fewer words.
@Donagh_Sarah I’d allow 20-35 mins per day for a movie (the first 10 mins can take me a whole day, while I get my head around the story, its world, and the general tone; then I can speed up), and 30-45mins of a TV episode, which likely has a simpler narrative structure.
Ukraine's President Zelenskyy in his 2019 inauguration speech: "I would very much like for you to not have my portraits in your offices … Because a president is not an icon, nor an idol."
"Put there photographs of your children instead."
@blindbites I've just listened again to Why Buddhism is True, an exploration of the overlaps between Buddhist philosophy of mind, and modern psychology and neuroscience, written by a non-Buddhist psychologist. Fascinating, and a superb narration.
@drheathermay Grief doesn’t exactly pass, but it becomes a familiar companion that we get used to, and other things appear alongside it to balance it out. You’ll develop other strategies for meeting the needs that your car once did. For now, allow the grief, and know that better is coming.
Electrifying performance from #JamesMcAvoy in #Cyrano de B at the Harold Pinter last night, and amazing production. Delighted to be doing the #AudioDescription for this with Di Langford for @VocalEyesAD on 20th Feb. Intro available on VocalEyes website from 14th. @atgtickets
