@hannahdahlen@advocacybaa I have been trying to “fix”it for the last 50 years, little will change until we get the majority of fit and healthy women birthing in freestanding Midwifery units or at home.
@dublindoula@AIMSIreland Well done. And if more women had their babies at home there would not be a problem and they would be fitter and healthier as a result
@JamesTitcombe @CNOEngland I hope they will follow the research and establish community based continuity of Midwifery care which has been shown to have the best results.
@LolaOrnato @Roisin__Bradley@MidwiferyForum Agreed, however, while staff use pool rooms as storage areas and while women are given a variety of questionable reasons why they can’t use a pool it is better to develop the skills in Midwifery units and at home where there is the enthusiasm.
@Roisin__Bradley@MidwiferyForum There are few home births in the UK too, but until there is a requirement for trainee obstetricians and midwives to attend normal births outside obstetric units the over-medicalisation of birth will continue. Currently, fewer than 1 in 10 low risk women have normal births.
Well worth reading the irrepressible & wonderful Marge Berer's unminced words to her MP. I haven't got a Tory MP @FloEshalomi, but would send something similar if I did @HealthWatchUK@keepnhspublic@MattHancock https://t.co/yonsEcYKpx
#Thankyou for supporting women’s choices, at this challenging time we have much to do to ensure all women receive safer and more personal care, regardless of postcode, ethnic background and sexuality.
