@hergehound5 I hope the investment does make a difference. Sadly even with "Each Baby Counts" not enough has been done.Babies with vasa praevia are still going unnoticed, and this cause of death (or risk of lifelong disabilities) is also totally avoidable through detection at the anomoly scan
“The loss of a child is something that affects you for the rest of your life. You shouldn’t have to bury your children, or cremate your child as we had to with Kate, & when we found out that Kates loss was absolutely avoidable, it’s that much harder”. 💔 https://t.co/nTFTurlawk
OB Facts: Fetal Heart Rate monitoring is the most effective way to identify babies with cord compression.
Babies with repetitive compressions develop acidosis and low blood pressure which can cause stillbirth.Cord entanglement can cause stillbirth as documented in photo 4.
OB Facts: Prenatal diagnosis of an umbilical cord mass at the 20wk anomaly scan. F/U ultrasounds at (23,27,31,33,35,37)wks done.
The umbilical cord needs review from baby to placenta.
Any findings should be sequentially re-examined as demonstrated in this article.
OB: The argument that there is no “best evidence” to support UCA awareness is fiction. There is a lot of evidence being posted on this site. How much best evidence existed 5 years ago to plan a vehicle and small helicopter landing on Mars?Time to discuss UCA as an OB risk factor.
Baby Lifeline’s Mind the Gap research, frontline NHS professionals are not being trained in areas associated 2 harm, therefore, we hope that funding will be released to support the roll-out of high-quality, effective training for every professional caring for women and babies."
OB Facts: Wharton’s jelly of the umbilical cord can be imaged and measured. Thin cord syndrome is a known stillbirth risk factor. A complete review of the umbilical cord should be done from the placenta to the umbilicus.
New statement from @RCObsGyn & @MidwivesRCM is welcome:
"Safety must be the number one priority in maternity care"
Also needs to be acknowledgement that there are different views on the ground regarding what constitutes safe.

@doctor_oxford This should not be happening. But they could have been infected up to 2 weeks ago when everyone seemed to be in denial. All staff need FULL PPE. It’s doesn’t matter how much it costs. I’m sure we’d all pay with upped taxes for this!
@doctor_oxford@DrRoyBailey incredibly courageous selfless work all of you are doing in the NHS using your skills and your lives for the good of others. I cannot think of a greater tougher thing to do it is an incredible act of kindness and compassion
@doctor_oxford These are by no means the only (young and fit) NHS staff already on ventilators. (I know of others by name , and my “catchment” is tiny)
Regrettably, this virus will not be taken seriously in UK until people see their neighbours taken out in bags.
