@treylmyers Currently that the whole “sexual scenes don’t need to be in movies at all period” conversation is massively overblown and those people need to grow up a bit. I get movies can sometimes be a little indulgent on that stuff but it’s fine ultimately
It’s okay I’d give it like a 4/10 Although Iknow this is splatter presentation it seems a bit uncomposed still. Next time try building height with the steak by staggering and stacking the cuts angled, maybe try to keep the flow of the splatter one specific direction maybe even contrasting on top of a clean smear of another sauce element like a carrot sauce for instance or you could use just the tips of the asparagus for plating on top of the steak cuts scattered on the plate while using the stalks to create a nice asparagus puree sauce
@Stone1776Tom I always wonder if that happens because a lot of stuff used to be on Netflix before it all got split up amongst the wave of streaming platforms and it’s still just in their search but not there to watch
The Thing is the perfect film. A tight premise about solving a problem. The combination of old school film craft, tension and a tight internal engine of logic, fear, and paranoia.
Obsession isn’t bad or anything it is worth watching for the performance and the modern relationship shy guy nice guy consent/autonomy angle. It even has body horror. Bottomline line it cleanly executes a familiar monkey paw story but doesn’t add new rules to that, or establish or sustain long lasting dread the way the thing does. it’s not even in the same weight class as the thing.
He’s bluffing. Carpenter specifically told the camera man to leave out the blood test eye glint everyone but Palmer (the thing) had. Near the end the camera man asked are we gonna do the same eye lighting here? Carpenter said no, I want it to stay ambiguous.
John Carpenter says nobody has figured out the ending of The Thing correctly yet

@lobthemagical Bloodstained is so good. I love it. Personally I can’t play the new castlevania but I’m putting it on my list of games to go back to when I have the opportunity.
