Start at Washington Dulles (IAD):

Book a nonstop to Warsaw Chopin Airport from Dulles International (9 hours.)

Take the train from Warsaw to Poland’s border-town, Przemyśl (3-4 hours).

From Przemyśl, grab a taxi or bus to the Medyka-Shehyni crossing (20-30 minutes).

Cross into Shehyni, Ukraine.

Snag a Taxi/Bus to Lviv, Ukraine’s western hub (about 1 hour).

From Lviv, a 5-6 hour train gets you to Kyiv.

Pro Tip: You wont need to pay baggage fees, because the Ukrainian Military will provide everything you need.

As someone that endured a full IRS audit in 2016, in which I had to provide proof and reason for every financial transaction for the full year of 2014, I find it apprehensible that our government feels they aren’t accountable to a similar standard.

It seems as though our government feels that I am more accountable to what I may owe them than they are to what they are doing with my money.

Jiu-Jitsu taught me to view the world with a realist’s eye; in Jiu-Jitsu, you can’t fake it.

Jiu-Jitsu is one of the most authentic experiences I’ve ever witnessed in my life. For example, there are many martial arts where the instructor acts more like an actor than anything else, and you never really know how skilled that person is. In Jiu-Jitsu, that doesn’t happen. At some point, we will shake hands and roll, and very quickly, we can see who is who. I don’t mean that you have to be crazy tough, but what I mean is, if you don’t know Jiu-Jitsu and you’re just pretending to know by demonstrating moves, we can easily identify this when we roll.

And in life, how many times do we meet people who pretend they know a lot? Unfortunately, there’s no way to ‘roll,’ but after Jiu-Jitsu, I’ve become a much more skeptical person because I always wonder, if this were Jiu-Jitsu, would this guy be as good as he claims?

Anyway, maybe I’m going off the deep end here, hehe, but these are just my thoughts for the day, and I truly believe in this: You can’t fake in Jiu-Jitsu. The truth appears very quickly.

We were told to prepare starting last Wednesday. It was a hurricane that was tracked for a week, not an unexpected earthquake.

I concede that my urgency and frustration is greater than yours. I live less than 40 minutes from some of these areas. I have friends that are lineman, law enforcement officers, and aid workers either there or en route. Therefore, I have vested interest.
