This 76-year-old woman from Enderta, Tigray, has been arrested by the politico-military group that continues to terrorize Tigray through its parochial militias and increasingly repressive measures.

For decades, since TPLF’s inception in fact, opposing views, criticism, and even legitimate concerns have been met with intimidation and punishment, including the forced disappearance and killing of thousands of Tigrayans, mainly established families and elites whom they sought as a threat to their regime.

The difference today is that what was once enforced informally has now been codified through a recently ���ratified” illegal proclamation that, in effect, criminalizes dissent and restricts freedom of expression.

The arrest of an elderly woman for expressing her views is a troubling reflection of the direction in which Tigray is being taken. No society can move forward when fear replaces dialogue and when disagreement is treated as a crime.

But how can you just kill a hawker even if she's a foreigner by claiming she has take over your opportunity.
