In OT school, a non-autistic OT taught us about autism and high prevalece in nearby affluent areas attributing autism to environmental factors. I asked if increased awareness as well as resources in these regions to assess for autism was a factor. Flat out told NO, thatβs wrong.

One of the moms in my son's kindergarten class wrote a book explaining her daughter's physical disability for the other kids to understand and it is so sweet. These 5 and 6 year olds have more compassion and empathy than most adults.
