Germanic troops in the Holy Roman Empire could often be deployed and assembled as an army in a city for several reasons, including, for example, during the first abduction of king Wenceslaus IV of Bohemia in 1394. Searches were conducted throughout southern Bohemia led by the future emperor Ruprecht, and especially to repel the Austrian troops who were attempting to slow down the allied army.
