Bishop Gadsden joins the rest of the Charleston community in mourning Charleston Police Chief, Luther Reynolds who passed today after a long and brave battle with cancer. We are grateful for his service to the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Reynolds family.
Bishop Gadsden is happy to see Ian depart our area. With more than 9” of rain in the past 24 hours and tropical storm force winds, our Community fared well. Thank you to our team members and residents for riding out the storm together!
Bishop Gadsden is planning to shelter-in-place with the expected arrival of now Tropical Storm Ian. Any questions on emergency operations can be directed to Kimberly Borts, Vice President of Mission and Communications 843.296.8296.
We thank the Town of James Island and City of Charleston Fire Departments, as well as the Bishop Gadsden team for their efficient and exemplary work during this process.
This morning, smoke in an office location triggered the alarms for Bishop Gadsden’s Read Cloister area. At no time was there an active fire or flames. Out of an abundance of caution, and per protocols…
we moved residents from the Read Cloister to the outside until the all clear was given by the fire department and residents were safely returned to their residences.
There was significant fire truck activity in the past hour at Bishop Gadsden. There is no current emergency. The fire department has investigated and addressed the issue.
Some James Island community members took to social media to express concern after they heard the old Richardson Home would soon be demolished. Bishop Gadsden, the property owner, just confirmed to me there are NO current plans to tear down the home. @Live5News
Dear James Island Community –
With the comments we are seeing surrounding the former Richardson home on Camp Road, we thought it would be helpful to respond that we, too, share your love for this property.
Bishop Gadsden purchased the home in May of 2020…
Please understand that we continue to research options and are very pleased that the greater community may be interested in partnering with Bishop Gadsden to preserve this unique piece of James Island history.
