That’s why we have asked all political parties in Wales to commit to a life-saving ambition: cutting premature deaths from cardiovascular disease (CVD) by 25% over the next decade. 🫀📅

🔬Despite medical advances, CVD remains a growing crisis in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
🔸Death rates under 75 are still higher than before the pandemic
🔸 In 2024, Wales’ CVD death rate under 75 was 17% higher than England
🔸Survival after cardiac arrest? Just 1 in 20 in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿, compared to 1 in 10 in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 & 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🗳️Ahead of the 2026 Senedd elections, our Wales’ Hearts Need More campaign calls for CVD to be firmly on the political agenda. We’re asking parties to include this target in their manifestos and focus on:

🔹 Prevention – Stop CVD before it starts
🔹 Care – Timely, equitable cardiac care for all
🔹 Insight – Better data for better outcomes

The reality is stark: progress has stalled, and lives are being lost🤍

Yesterday afternoon, we went to Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi to launch ‘Classroom RevivR’ in Wales.

BHF Cymru’s CPR training tool for schools was shared with Year 8 and Year 12 pupils, with special thanks to @RhunapIorwerth for joining the session.

We were also joined by Amlyn ab Iorwerth and Sam Booth, both survivors of cardiac arrest from the local area who shared their experience with the class, and highlighted the importance of learning this lifesaving skill.
