Operation Shanela II has led to the arrest of 692 suspects across Limpopo between 22 and 28 June 2026, including 396 illegal immigrants arrested for contravening the Immigration Act.
The operation, conducted by the SAPS alongside other law enforcement agencies, targeted wanted suspects and crimes such as murder, attempted murder, assault, robbery, drug dealing, the illicit cigarette trade, illegal liquor trading, possession of dangerous weapons, drunk driving and immigration offences.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised officers and partner agencies for their efforts, saying Operation Shanela II remains a key initiative to combat crime, remove illegal weapons, illicit cigarettes, drugs and other contraband from communities, and improve public safety.
All arrested suspects have begun appearing in magistrates’ courts across the province.
