Yesterday, I debated an obnoxious, disrespectful, and ignorant @jacksonhinkle who argued that the Houthi terrorists were some sort of polished, incredible “government” that Yemenis love and respect.

Today, at the UN, I met Gamal al-Ma’mari, a well-known Yemeni tribal leader and sheikh who was kidnapped, tortured, and jailed by the Houthis for 3 years. They tortured him to the point of paralysis because he, and his tribe, opposed their rule.

He was, ironically, put in the same jail cell as Levi Marhabi, the only Yemenite Jew left in Yemen, who has also been tortured to the point of paralysis.

Stop getting your information about my country from clueless, ignorant Western “experts” who visited it for two weeks.

Something absolutely unbelievable happened today.

For the first time in modern history we saw Arabs, the great people of the UAE, celebrate the heroism of Israelis and the fact that Israeli lives were saved and people went home safe and sound.

For my entire existence, I had never seen Arabs celebrate the good qualities of Israelis. They had always treated Israelis like they were incapable of being normal people, with good qualities.

The UAE's tolerance and humanity is making history.

They can both be.

There is space for multiple truths.

Reducing a complex conflict into a zero-sum binary locks both peoples into a cycle of mutual erasure and endless hostility.

Both Palestinians and Israelis hold deep, legitimate claims that do not have to exist in perpetual opposition.

Recognizing the rights, heritage, and existence of one group does not negate or delegitimize the other.

Their legitimate claims are not mutually exclusive.

Dehumanization is the fuel that keeps this crisis burning.

It is not a political concession to acknowledge the tragedy of lost human life - whether Israeli or Palestinian.

Empathy must be the moral baseline for any sustainable future.

Every advocate, observer, and activist in the diaspora holds an individual responsibility to change how they engage.

We must detoxify this discourse and be willing to construct a shared, coexistent reality.

We cannot remain perpetually stuck in a vicious cycle of hatred, incitement, violence, revenge: rinse and repeat.

Peace requires radical pragmatism, mutual humanization, and a willingness to step outside the binary.

We must break the cycle.

Earlier today, AI researcher Jacob Coxon, who spent the past three years working at OpenAI and Anthropic, publicly resigned from Anthropic, warning that both companies are racing toward superintelligence and “gambling with our lives.”

Then Evan Hubinger, Anthropic’s current Head of Alignment Stress-Testing, agreed with him, saying people inside the company genuinely believe AI could kill all humans.

Hubinger said he personally puts the chance of AI wiping out humanity within the next decade at greater than 10% and said Anthropic still does not have a plan to solve the problem.
