On August 21st 1879, the vision at Knock occurred

In 1879, during one of the many man made famines of the 19th Century in Ireland, Our Lady appeared alongside the Lamb at the altar, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist in Knock, Co. Mayo, Ireland

The apparition is both Eucharistic (The Lamb) and Marian, but also political as it asserts Our Lady as the Queen of Ireland and not Queen Victoria (nicknamed the 'Famine Queen')
