Just go ahead and admit you don’t like your country … Britain did stand strong, but D-Day happens because of US, who led the plan and had triple the casualties of anyone else
@martensmatt1 You were responding to my picture storybook tweet regarding elementary students. This is not hard.
Again, really surprised folks — presumably like yourself — who aren’t exactly ardent public school champions would trust school districts to teach Bible stories to, again, kids.
“Kids need to know where idioms come from” is also a silly take. Maybe we can integrate middle school sex ed w/ David & Bathsheba next…
I am curious how many folks touting teaching picture book Bible stories to 2nd graders actually have a kid in public school?
“David & Goliath” and “Daniel in the lion’s den” are idioms and metaphors used in the English language in secular contexts. Of course it’s appropriate to have public school children read those stories to understand the meaning and origin of the phrases.
@martensmatt1 No, my point regarded a picture storybook for elementary students, which most everyone understands as inappropriate.
My public school 9th grader could handle a Bible as Literature unit. Teachers are not equipped to teach these topics, certainly not in a way you’d approve of.
At or before 3rd grade, Texas kids will be required to experience the preschool-level literary classic “ROAR!: Daniel & the Lions’ Den.” Publisher Charisma House says children will “learn God’s Word” and “discover how faith in God gives us the power to do what is right.”

@dandarling David and Goliath picture storybook for a 2nd grader? We have historically distinguished b/w young learners and teens when it comes to these things. Surprised you’d want an atheist teaching a child from your church about Daniel and the Lion’s Den.
This is a complete nothingburger of a story. Reading a text essential to Western order is basic civics. And, of course, the Bible is sui generis in forming Western culture, ethics, law, memory, and history. So of course it should be read in public schools. Carry on. https://t.co/hGQmBLEdJ0
“The Socialist agenda — rent freezes, free transportation, city-run grocery stores, and universal childcare, all funded by soaking the wealthy — is a grand act of displacement.”
Oh the horrors! Free childcare and housing that is affordable!
They did however send me on a goose chase around stadium in search of Advil and while I was gone a legal representative spoke to my wife, and only when I was out of room. Shady. Much more to say.
@TjFriedl1@Reds My wife @alexisjweaver was struck in face by foul ball TJ hit in top of 4th on 4/8 against @Marlins — she’s had to take short-term disability unable to work full day, goes to 3x weekly concussion therapy, and suffers from debilitating headaches.
She’s unable to fully help care for our 3 children, including our autistic/disabled daughter who doesn’t understand why mommy can’t go to Friday community concert or church on Sunday. Marlins didn’t do anything for my wife—never bothered to follow up. Pathetic.
@oh_HOLMES Sure. Being the seminarian in the state house who spoke faith language is how he got his platform though. It’s authentic to who he is.
He’s never been the calculated politician always running for something else. Maybe that hurts him.
@SamRainer Very interesting - will be subscribing to read. Not sure many can handle the theology differences b/w pew-sitters and pastors, which isn’t surprising to anyone familiar with these studies.
@oh_HOLMES DeKalb voters elected LCJ to clean things up after Thurmond last Nov. Might have been a different race if he could have dominated the county he served as CEO and Superintendent for so many years.
